Gun show expected to draw crowds

Organizers of the upcoming Craig Gun and Sport Show are expecting the largest show in the event's history.

"Everything a hunter, sportsmen or shooter would want," said Dick Becker, a Maybell resident and member of the sponsoring Bears Ears Sportsman Club, of the items available at the show. "Camouflage, guns, supplies, scopes, mounts ... This will be the biggest show in Northwest Colorado."

The show is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Avery, under the grandstands, 702 E. Victory Way.

About 90 vendors will sell their wares at the show, Becker said. In addition to guns, ammo, reloading supplies and various other items for outdoors enthusiasts, vendors also will have Western memorabilia, antiques and jewelry.

The event, which has taken place twice a year for more than a decade, is expected to draw people from throughout Northwest Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, he said. Organizers have described the gun and sport show as family-friendly activity.

The Bears Ears Sportsman Club donates proceeds from the event to local youth groups such as 4-H and the Boys & Girls Club of Craig.

Admission to the weekend show is $4, or $3 with a coupon. Children 12 or younger get in free when accompanied by their parents. Anyone interested in joining the sportsman club may sign up during the show.
