Man in good condition after crash

A 20-year-old Craig man who was involved in a crash early Sunday morning was upgraded from critical to good condition, health care professionals at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction reported Monday.

The Craig Police Depart--ment, Colorado State Patrol and Craig Fire/Rescue responded to the vehicle accident at 12:36 a.m. Sunday on 10th Street.

Tyler Pike, 20, who had to be extracted from his vehicle, was taken to the hospital.

Police said his vehicle struck a parked car near the 900 block of Rose Street. He later rolled his vehicle on 10th Street, firefighters said.

Capt. Jerry DeLong of the Craig Police Department said charges against Pike are pending because alcohol is suspected to be involved in the accident.

A police officer spotted Pike's SUV heading west at Seventh and Lincoln streets at a high speed, DeLong said. The officer then saw Pike's driving become more erratic at about the same time he struck the parked car, DeLong said.

Pike tried to flee, DeLong said.
