The Holiday Inn of Craig, 300 S. Colorado Hwy. 13, is under new ownership.
The hotel was formerly owned by Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc., a California-based company.
Trinity Hotel Investors purchased the hotel on Sept. 12 as part of a 13-property deal.
"I'm very excited in the change of ownership," General Manager Mikki O'Brien said.
She said Sunstone was a good firm, but its owners wanted to invest in larger resort hotels. On the other hand, Trinity, a young company, wants to focus on smaller hotels with stable financials.
O'Brien said that's just what the Holiday Inn is.
"The biggest change is that Trinity is a very good franchisee, so what they're going to do is go back and renovate again," O'Brien said.
A previous renovation on the hotel was completed a few weeks ago. Hotel officials meet today to discuss what specifically will be remodeled.
But, O'Brien said some things will stay the same at the hotel. Benefits for employees will remain the same, and in some cases, improve.
Plus, "the sale went thru quickly so that employees weren't affected by the sale," O'Brien said.
OPUS Hospitality Advisors, a company based in Scottsdale, Ariz., manages the Holiday Inn. OPUS hired O'Brien when Trinity purchased the hotel and contracted with OPUS to manage the property.
"Mikki O'Brien has a great team in place at the Craig Holiday Inn," said Si Sloman, chief operating officer for OPUS. "We're looking forward to working with them, and being a part of this energetic team."
O'Brien, too, is excited to work with a company with 30 years experience.
"I think this will be fantastic for the hotel and for the community as well," she said.
