The Moffat County School District and the Visiting Nurse Association will offer a free parenting class at the beginning of 2007.
The Nurturing Parenting Program is for mothers and fathers of children as old as 5 years old. The program, which lasts 16 weeks, offers tips on effective behavioral management tools, encourages the development of empathy and promotes healthy child relationships.
The class starts at 5 p.m. Jan. 9 in Craig. Dinner will be served.
The class will meet every Tuesday evening. Class sessions are expected to last three hours.
Although tuition is free, but there is a $25 book fee. Payment plans are accepted to cover the book fee.

Don't let your horse get out of shape. The Routt County Fairgrounds multi-purpose building is open to the public for horseback riding. The cost is $5 an hour. Open riding sessions last through the winter with a varied schedule. Horses are not provided. The schedule is posted at www.routtcountyfair.org, or call 276-3068 for more information.
Figure Skating Club's fundraiser Dec. 8
The Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club's annual Silent Auction and Wine-tasting Fundraiser is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Catamount Ranch and Club clubhouse. There will be food, wine and live music performed by Todd Musselman. The silent auction includes art, music, food, fishing, skiing, sleigh rides, getaways and more. Tickets to the event are $35 a person and can be purchased at Howelsen Ice Arena or from Figure Skating Club members. The club is a nonprofit organization. For more information, call 846-3352.

A ServSafe manager's certification course, in English, for restaurant managers is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Routt County Courthouse Annex building on Sixth Street.
