Ray Edward Smith
Ray Edward Smith was born on May 22, 1928, in Booker, Texas, to Albert and Elsie F. (Bigelow) Smith. He was raised and attended school in Elmwood, Okla.
Ray married Alison Lavene Poteete on March 4, 1950, in Elmwood. Ray was a farmer and worked around Elmwood and Guymon, Okla., before moving to Craig in 1964.
They lived for a time in Dinosaur, where Ray worked at the Dinosaur school. Following his retirement they returned to Craig.
Ray enjoyed collecting old care and playing me harmonica. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Ray died on Oct. 27, 2006, at the Walbridge Wing in Meeker, where he had resided since the closing of Valley View Manor.
He is survived by his wife, Lavene Smith, of Craig, and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; a sister, Goldie Warner; and two brothers, Morris and Ernest, preceded him in death.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
Memorial donations may be made to the Walbridge Wing in Meeker in care of Grant Mortuary.
