Moffat County Neighbor: Elwood Eisenhauer

Elwood Eisenhauer

Age: 42

Occupation: Shop owner, Ike's Automatic Transmission Shop

What should your business card say you do? Transmissions, auto repair, salvage, ATV, towing.

Place of birth: Craig. I left for two years to New Mexico and then Arizona, but I came back because I liked it here -- I was born and raised here, and my dad started the business 44 years ago.

Describe your morning routine. Get up, go to work, work here all day. That's about it really.

How would your friends describe you? A lot of them think I'm a workaholic. I don' t do much of anything else but work and hunt.

Have you ever had a book change your life? What was it and why? I liked Louis L'Amour's books, but they weren't life-changing. It's been a while since I read one.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Believe it or not, exactly what I am- a mechanic.

If you could invite any four people over for dinner, who would they be and what would you serve? My dad, he's passed on. My mom, my wife and Steve Durban, a good friend of mine. To serve, it would have to be steak, more than likely T-bones.

What are the three things you can't live without? No. 1, family. No. 2, hunting. No. 3, I love to work.

What was your most embarrassing moment? I was de-pantsed as a 12-year-old in front of the movie theater by two elderly people.

Which super hero would you be? Batman.

What's the worst reason you've received/given for breaking up with someone? Aw man, it's been like 20 years since I've done something like that.

If you had to give up one of your five senses, which would it be? Touch.

What band/performer would you stand in line to get tickets for? Quiet Riot.

What music, book or movie are you ashamed to admit you love? It was a girly movie, I can't think of the name...It was "In Her Shoes."

What would you do if you won $10 million? I would probably build a hospital and support church groups, honest to God. I'd change some ways I run the business and hunt a bunch.

What do you think of the war in Iraq? It should've been over with a long time ago. When we went in, we should have cleaned it out and left, kind of like we did, but better, instead of leaving everyone over there. They should come home.
