Girls golf wins another tournament

The Moffat County girls golf team won another Class 4A division title at a golf tournament Monday in Montrose.

The Bulldogs' top three golfers combined for a 270 to beat host Montrose by three strokes. Moffat County sophomore Meghan Innes led the team with an 87. Junior Amber Nicholson shot a 90. Senior Chelsey Herod turned in a personal best with a round of 93. Senior Amy Coulter had a 105, and sophomore Natasha Chapman had a 118.

The tournament was the last of the regular season for the Bulldogs. They have the rest of the week off to prepare for the regional tournament in Glenwood Springs. The team will have a practice round on Monday in Glenwood and tee off Tuesday for the tournament.

Rodeo team brings home top finishes

The Moffat County High School rodeo team continued its spring season with rodeos Saturday and Sunday in Pueblo. In Saturday's rodeo, the team had nine top-10 finishes.

n Barrel racing: Kendel Fawcett, third; Becky White, ninth

n Steer wrestling: Clay Foulk, sixth; Justin Hegwer, ninth

n Goat tying: Becky White, sixth

n Pole bending: Sarah Fleming, fourth; White, sixth; Fawcett, seventh

n Team roping: Eric Fleming, fourth

In Sunday's rodeo, the team had also had nine top finishes.

n Steer wrestling: Brandon Whitaker, fourth; Hegwer, sixth; Foulk, eighth

n Saddle bronc riding: Hegwer, third

n Breakaway roping: Fawcett, second

n Pole bending: White, third; Fawcett, fourth

n Barrel racing: Katie Foulk, sixth

n Team roping: Hegwer, ninth

The team will be in Henderson this weekend for two more rodeos.
