More high school students played hockey last season than signed up for baseball this spring. That pleases outgoing president Mike Boatright of the Craig Youth Hockey League.
"We had our best season ever," Boatright said. "We not only had good cooperation from parents, but a great amount of kids participated as well."
More than 160 students played hockey this winter in the house league and the competitive league. The 5- to 18-year-olds played on 12 teams, and the competitive league played 20 games this season.
"We had a lot of fun," Boatright said. "The Bantams (13- and 14-year-olds) did really well in the playoffs."
The house league played games against local teams as well as teams from Vernal, Utah, and Oak Creek.
"I hope next year is as good as this year," Boatright said. "We plan to continue having fun and skating hard."
