City Council approves purchases Tuesday

March 15, 2006

Craig City Council purchased four pickups at Tuesday night's meeting.

Craig Ford had the low bid at $81,036.80 for four half-ton, extended-cab pickups to be used by the Craig Parks and Recreation Department, the Public Works Department, the Community Development Department and the Craig Police Department. The council also received bids from Victory Motors, Cook Chevrolet and Fremont Motors.

The council also approved a low bid of $8,977 for a digital copier for Craig City Hall. The bid from Jackson's Office Supply was accepted over higher bids from Pilot Office Supply, Alpine Copier Technologies and The Copy Shop.

The council purchased four solar-powered school zone traffic beacons from Traffic Parts Inc. The beacons will be placed around Craig Middle School and Craig Intermediate School on Rose and Ninth streets as part of the city's efforts to get drivers to slow down in school zones.

The price of the four beacons is $11,560, and they should be installed by the start of the next school year. School-zone beacons are already at East Elementary and Ridgeview Elementary schools, and on Yampa Avenue by Craig Middle School.
