8 a.m. A defensive driving class is offered downstairs at the Colorado State University Moffat County extension office, 539 Barclay St. The cost is $45 for adults. There are discounts for students, seniors and Moffat County employees. Call 824-3211.

6:30 p.m. The Moffat County School District Board of Education has a special meeting at Maybell Elementary School. The board will discuss the 2006 budget and the possibility of closing the school.

Wednesday, March 15

9 a.m. Annual daffodil sales to benefit the Hospice are on sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, 745 Russell St., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Market, 505 W. Victory Way, and Safeway, 1295 Victory Way. Daffodils are $5 a bunch or $22.50 for five bunches. Call 824-8233.

5 to 8 p.m. Moffat County commissioner candidate Dan W. Martin hosts a meet the candidate reception at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave. Voters will get the chance to meet Martin and find out where he stands on the issues. Call the Committee to Elect Dan W. Martin at 824-2187.

10 and 11:30 a.m. Story-time is at the Craig branch of Moffat County Libraries, 570 Green St. The theme is green things. Call 824-5116.

7 p.m. Craig Youth Hockey is having its annual spring membership meeting in the Craig Intermediate School cafeteria. The group will elect a president and first vice president and discuss issues from last year's season. Anyone with a skater in the association is welcome. Call Mike at 824-2046 or Mark at 824-8211.

7 to 8 p.m. The cancer support group meets in the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association conference room, 745 Russell St. Call 824-7641.

10 to 11 a.m. A playgroup for children meets at the Early Childhood Center at the Moffat County School District administration building, 775 Yampa Ave. Children up to kindergarten age are welcome. Call Karra at 326-8553.

5:30 to 7 p.m. St. Michael Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus holds their annual St. Patrick's Day dinner at the church hall, 678 School St. Suggested donations are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. Call 824-3628.

2 to 4 p.m. Happy Hands Crochet Club meets at 655 Ranney St. to learn to make the toothbrush rug. Bring material cut or torn into 2-inch strips. The pattern and toothbrush are on sale at the meeting. Call Mary Walters at 824-2923.

5:30 p.m. The Moffat County Library board of trustees meets at the Craig branch, 570 Green St.

Tuesday, March 21

All branches of the Moffat County Libraries are closed for training and computer upgrades.

Wednesday, March 22

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Craig Chamber of Commerce sponsors a free business after-hours mixer at the Holiday Inn of Craig. This month's host is Rocky Mountain Health Plans. The community is invited.

6:15 p.m. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary holds bingo at the VFW, 419 E. Victory Way. The public is invited to attend.

7 p.m. Heartbeat, a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, meets at First Congregational Church, 630 Green St. Call 824-6541.
