CSU closing in on 4-H agent

Monday was the last day to apply for the position of 4-H agent at the Colorado State University Moffat County Extension Office in Craig, and Director Elisa Shackelton was exited about the applicants.
"We have received nine applications, and we are forwarding them to Fort Collins," Shackelton said. "We're excited about getting someone soon."
From CSU, the applications will be screened and references checked. Those qualifying will be sent to a team of four individuals including the regional director, local 4-H director, a 4-H representative and a human resources person to select three or four top candidates for interviews.
Shackelton says the interviews should begin the first week in May.
"We are really hoping that the person we select can start by June or early July," Shackelton said. "The fair is coming up quickly, and they will be busy right away."
Most of the applicants are from out of town, and because the position is a state-funded opening, a master's degree is required to apply.
"It's a great job," Shackelton said. "You get to work with kids and it helps you become a better person."
She added how it was always a pleasure to have former 4-H students return as adult to share their experiences with the children in the program.
