Lyal George Bright
Lyal G. Bright died Feb. 11, 2006, in Wheat Ridge. He was 80.
Bright was born May 26, 1925, in Oakley, Kan., to George Edgar Bright and Elsie Ruth (Sharp) Bright. The Bright family arrived in Maybell when he was 12 years old, after short periods in Nebraska and then Meeker. He soon found himself working on the McIntyre Ranch near Maybell in exchange for board and room and the opportunity to attend the Maybell School. While attending the Maybell School he met his future wife, Barbara White.
Lyal joined the Navy in February 1943. While stationed in Oakland, Calif., he returned to Colorado on leave and married the love of his life, Barbara, on March 3, 1945. At the end of his enlistment with the Navy, Lyal and Barbara returned to Colorado. Lyal owned and operated a sheet metal and heating business in Wheat Ridge for many years. In 1969, he was employed by DOW Chemical at Rocky Flats as a sheet metal worker. He was then employed through the sheet metal union where he worked on the second bore of the Eisenhower Tunnel. He remained with the union until his retirement in 1989.
Lyal is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Rick, David (Kay), Alan (Kristin); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel of Peace with entombment at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
