Education briefs for March 11
Pi(e) Day celebration at Craig Middle School
Craig Middle School will celebrate Pi Day, the unofficial, international mathematics education day from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The date marks Albert Einstein's birthday and corresponds with the three digit approximation of the Greek letter Ï (3.14), representing the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. "We're going to measure circular objects, do some math, and discover where the number Pi comes from," said seventh-grade math teacher, Christine Palmer. Palmer added that once the math lessons are complete, "then we're all going to eat the pies that the kids bring in."
MCHS students should 'watch those buses'
Moffat County High School Assistant Principal Thom Schnellinger recently sent out a safety notice advising students to "watch those buses."
Reminding MCHS students that pick-up and drop-off areas are on the north side of MCHS, Schnellinger reiterated that no parking or waiting is allowed in the bus loading zone on the south side from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. He hopes the notice will help the administrative faculty "cut down on traffic/pedestrian congestion and make MCHS a safe place for kids."
