Richard ‘Dick’ Kennedy

Richard "Dick" Kennedy died June 20, 2006, at Yampa Valley Medical Center, in Steamboat Springs.

A native of Pennsylvania, Dick served in the U.S. Navy and then moved to Colorado in the 1960s. He met his wife, Mary, in Denver where they married and lived until moving to Fort Collins. After graduation from Colorado State University, his family moved to Rock Springs, Wyo., where he worked in the trona, water treatment and power plant industries for many years. In 1993, Dick returned to Colorado as a chemist for the Xcel Energy-Hayden Station power plant.

His family includes his wife, Mary; his son, Doug; and his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Ryan, Julie and Hayden. Dick has one living brother, Dan. His father and sister are deceased. Dick's mother, Jeanette, currently resides in Pennsylvania. His family also includes an uncle along with several nieces and nephews.

An outdoor celebration of Dick's life was held in the Sunset Meadows Arboretum in Craig on June 23, 2006.

Memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association-Hospice in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, CO 81625.
