Police arrested a Rifle man Friday after they say he tried to kick down his wife's door and threatened to hurt another man.
Jason R. Swanson, 30, of Rifle, is charged with felony menacing assault, felony second-degree burglary, felony criminal mischief and domestic violence.
Craig Police spokesman Lt. John Forgay said officers responded to a call in the 500 block of Yampa Avenue on Friday after receiving a report of a disturbance there.
When officers arrived at the home, Swanson's wife told them Swanson had tried to kick down her door and threatened another man who was at the residence.
Swanson then drove off in a Dodge Duran--go, Forgay said.
Swanson's wife told officers the couple is going through a divorce, Forgay said.
Police spotted Swanson driving near Ninth Street and Yam--pa Avenue and pulled him over, Forgay said.
When officers stopped Swan--son, they realized he had an outstanding warrant for making threats over the telephone in a separate incident related to his wife, Forgay said.
Swanson is charged with menacing assault for making threats to the man who was with his wife, Forgay said. The burglary charge stems from Swanson trying to kick down the door, Forgay said.
The criminal mischief charge stems from damage done to the Dodge Durango, which Swanson's wife owns, Forgay said.
Swanson was booked into Moffat County Jail on $1,500 bail. He remained in jail Monday afternoon.
