Craig defendant pleads guilty to domestic-violence charges

A domestic dispute in January could send a Craig man to jail for the next two years.

Kevin Alexander Christopher pleaded guilty Tuesday in 14th Judicial District Court to domestic violence, a third-degree as------s--ault. The charge stems from an in--------cident in which pol--ice said Christ----opher attack--ed his girlfriend while he was intoxicated.

Prosecutors said the charge could send him to a prison chosen by Colorado Department of Corrections for up to two years.

Original charges against Christopher included second-degree assault and attempted murder. He was arrested in January after his girlfriend told police he punched her in the back of the head and choked her until she passed out during a fight in their apartment.

The fight started when the woman tried to wake Christopher up, according to the arrest affidavit in the case. He was heavily intoxicated during the incident, police said.

Christopher will be sentenced at 2 p.m. Aug. 22.
