Another arrest in drug theft

July 10, 2006

Craig police arrested a man Friday they say is the fourth person involved in a burglary last month.

James Raymond Gurule, 31, of Craig, was arrested on a warrant Friday night in the 500 block of Yampa Avenue.

Craig Police spokesman Lt. John Forgay said police think Gurule and three women stole prescription drugs from a Craig woman in June.

Police arrested the three women, Kathy Lee Carson, 27; Maria Ann Saenz, 25; and Charity Lynn Rasmussen, 21, on June 30.

The three women are charged with felony burglary, felony retaliation against a victim and misdemeanor harassment.

Carson, who also goes by Kathy Rowton, also is charged with felony theft and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Gurule is charged with only felony burglary, according to the Moffat County Jail, where all four are being held on $30,000 bails.

Police say the four people stole the drugs around June 20.

The alleged victim, an unidentified female, was storing items for one of the women, police said.

When the four went to retrieve the items, the woman wasn't home, but they went into the home anyway, police said.

When the homeowner arrived, Carson and Gurule were in the house, and Saenz and Rasmussen were outside, police said.

Saenz and Rasmussen tried to stall the homeowner from going into the home, Forgay said.

When the homeowner went into the home, she forced all four to leave, police said.

The homeowner then realized some prescription drugs and other property had been taken, police said.

Police had warrants issued for all four people.

Police also said the three women harassed the alleged victim.
