Packing the cooler safely for an afternoon picnic or a weekend getaway will help to protect your family from food-borne illnesses. A properly packed cooler will keep your food below 40° F. Coolers with temperatures of 40° F or higher rapidly grow bacteria. Unfortunately, most people don’t properly pack coolers, typically leaving too much air space and not using enough ice. A full cooler will maintain safer temperatures longer than a half-empty cooler.

Hunters who came up empty in this year’s license draw don’t need to lose hope. Even if they didn’t get the licenses they hoped for, hunters have plenty of opportunity to buy a leftover license or one of the Colorado Division of Wildlife’s over-the-counter licenses.

George Duzik was 3 years old when his family moved to Moffat County. The land they homesteaded in Breeze Basin is still in the family today.
