No fireworks tickets on Fourth
It appears many residents heeded the requests of fire officials and left the Fourth of July fireworks to the professionals.
Craig Police Capt. Jerry DeLong said the department didn't issue any tickets for fireworks violations during the holiday.
Officers responded to noise complaints and issued warnings for illegal fireworks, but issued no summonses, DeLong said.
In the weeks leading up to the holiday, Craig Fire/Rescue and state public health officials encouraged residents to go to a professional show and skip personal fireworks.
DeLong said officers have issued only one citation for fireworks this year, and that was last month.
Typically, fireworks use slows down immediately after the holiday, DeLong said.
Illegal fireworks such as pop bottle rockets are the ones officers receive the most complaints about, DeLong said.
