Helen Bramwell Calder, 1917-2006
Helen Calder, 89, of Austin, Colo., died late Saturday afternoon, July 1, 2006, in the Horizon Care Center at Eckert.
Helen Bramwell, the daughter of Enoch Ernest and Zilpha Ann (Holman) Bramwell, was born on Jan. 21, 1917, in Ephriam, Utah.
She spent her childhood in and around the Salt Lake City area. She attended school in Granite, Utah.
Helen married Robert Vernell Calder on April 30, 1940. Robert and Helen's marriage was sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Robert preceded Helen in death on April 8, 2006.
Helen lived in Rangely and Craig before she and her husband made their home in Austin. Prior to her retirement, Helen worked as a secretary for the Yampa Valley Dairy, as well as working with her husband and family in their family-operated motel, near Craig.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Helen was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, past president of the Relief Society, and a past musical director at her church, Helen had many musical callings with her church.
Helen played in a band, loved to bowl and play softball. She enjoyed baking, having a fresh loaf of bread in the house at all times. Above all else in her life, Helen's love was for her family and her church.
Surviving family members, who are grateful they got to share Helen's life, include two sons, Robert Gary Calder of Austin and Thomas Bramwell Calder and wife, Margaret, of Telluride; two daughters, Joan Lorraine and husband, Richard Egan, of Oceanside, Calif., and Joycebeth Emanuel of Fort Collins; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, and a precious daughter, Susan Louise.
A funeral will be officiated at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cedaredge. Visitation is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday until service time at the church. The service will conclude at the church. A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Craig Cemetery.
