She lived in the Coalville/Henefer, Utah, area until her graduation from high school. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she worked for about six months.

After surgery and chemotherapy, Francis was given about one year to live. While Frances continued to improve, Junior developed heart problems and departed this world on Aug. 23, 1986. Once again, Frances gathered her strength and continued to live in their country home until 2000, when she moved into town.

On March 7, 2005, Frances was faced with her third bout of cancer -- stomach. She was told she had three to six months to live. She lived a total of 15 1/2 months after her diagnosis.
