For weeks, windows at one Centennial Mall retail space were covered with paper, causing intrigue and speculation.
But the mystery ends today as Steve Bell of Hayden opens All States Surplus Outlet in the Centennial Mall.
The store, 1111 W. Victory Way No. 135, will sell products, from tools to toys and everything in between, that other retailers in the nation couldn't move because of overstocks or returns.
"If we don't have it, it will probably be on the next truck," Bell said.
He said he expects to receive a semi-truck full of merchandise every two to three weeks.
Some of the products might be damaged, but All States will repair the damage and sell the products at a discounted price, Bell said.
The vast majority of the store's products will be in good condition, Bell said.
Bell ran Carpets Plus in Steamboat Springs in the mid- 1990s and once had an eBay store.
All the mystery has sparked a few funny rumors, Bell said. One such rumor was that the store would sell products seized by police officers in other cities.
A serious move for
Fun and Games store
In terms of distance, the move Fun and Games is set to make this week isn't a big deal.
The store, which sells board games, card games and collectibles, will move today from 33 W. Victory Way to 19 W. Victory Way, just a few doors down.
But what the move lacks in distance, it makes up for in importance, said Bridgette Harris, the store's owner.
"This is a huge move for us," Harris said.
The new location is much nicer and more conducive to what the store wants to do, including host gaming tournaments, Harris said.
The store won't close during the move.
A grand re-opening ceremony at the new location is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 14.
