Girl Scouts will again be on the streets of Craig this weekend with their annual cookie sales.

Scouts will set up cookie booths from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at City Market and Safeway.

Cookie sales also are set for these times and locations:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Cookie booth at Kmart and cookie van in the Safeway parking lot.
  • 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday: Cookie booth at City Market.
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 4: Cookie booths at City Market and downtown Craig; cookie van in the Safeway parking lot.

Commissioners seek board members

Moffat County commissioners are looking for residents to serve on two of the county's 20 advisory boards.

The county has an opening on the library board and an opening on the fair board.

The boards advise the commissioners and department officials.

Commissioners will accept letters of interest through Monday.

Snowmobile group

to meet in Craig

The Colorado Snowmobile Association is meeting this weekend in Craig.

The CSA's state convention will feature trail rides Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the state meeting and awards dinner will be Saturday.

Jenn Tonso, a member of the Northwest Colorado Snowmobile Club in Craig, said 50 to 60 people are expected to attend the convention, including state officers of the association and district and club representatives from across the state.

Seminar to offer tips

about growing trees

Growing trees can be a challenge in Northwest Colorado. Those interested in having greater success with trees and needing more information about basic tree care are invited to attend a seminar titled "Tree Care Basics" next week. The seminar, sponsored by the CSU Moffat County Extension Office, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the basement of the extension office, 539 Barclay. The cost for the seminar is $10 a household. Register by calling 824-9180. There's no cost for children younger than 6.

Free lecture Monday focuses on diabetes

Dr. Jessica German of Craig Chiropractic will present a free public lecture on diabetes next week.

The lecture will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Craig Fire Station on Yampa Avenue.

Information about controlling or avoiding diabetes, understanding food cravings and alternatives to sugar will be presented.

Application deadline for funding extended

The Moffat County Tourism Association will accept applications for event funding through March 31. Applications are available at the Craig Chamber of Commerce and should be returned to the chamber to the attention of the Moffat County Tourism Association. Only complete applications returned by the deadline will be accepted. Funding announcements will be made no later than April 28.
