The Wells Fargo Home Mortgage branch in Craig has been open for more than a month.
But Sherry Carter, home mortgage consultant at the office in the Moffat Insurance building, said people in Craig don't seem to know the business is in town.
"I don't think a lot of people know we're here," she said.
Wells Fargo opened the Craig branch because people from Craig were going to the Steamboat Springs office to get a mortgage.
Carter said the slow start in Craig isn't uncommon. "It's always slow to start off with," she said.
Carter, who lives in Steamboat and commutes to Craig, said she plans to advertise the Craig branch more and see whether that helps.
Irrigator takes bronze
A local businessman recently took home the bronze, but it didn't have anything to do with the Winter Olympics.
Ed Brannan, the owner of B & B Irrigation in Maybell, was recently awarded the bronze prize for sales from T-L Irrigation Co.
Nebraska-based T-L Irrigation specializes in hydrostatically powered pivot irrigation systems, which use hydraulic fluid instead of electricity to power irrigation machines.
The company gives out three levels of awards -- gold, silver and bronze -- for irrigation equipment sales.
Walgreens rumors fizzle
Rumors about a Walgreens coming to Craig seem to have been just that, rumors. Dave Costa, community development director for the city of Craig, told the Daily Press last week that he didn't expect the Illinois-based pharmacy to open a store in Craig.
Rumors had said the company was interested in land near Raney Street and Victory Way, but Steamboat seems to be a more likely destination for Walgreens.
