Dicy Emma Bailey died Feb. 5, 2006, in Craig. She was 82.

Mrs. Bailey was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Tildon, Ill., the daughter of Clara Terry Brock and Guy Brock. She was the youngest of four children.

The family moved to Colorado when Dicy was young. Her brother, Bob Smith, was born in the Yampa Valley.

Dicy married Dale Lane in 1940. They had two children, Maryann and Robert Dale. They were later divorced.

She married Vernie Neil Bailey in 1955. They made their home in Hayden, and in 1960, adopted Dicy's nieces, Eva Mae and Helen Jo Franke.

In 1996, Dicy moved to Craig to be near her daughter, Maryann.

Dicy was known as a hardworking and honest waitress and bartender. People would come from all over the Yampa Valley just to joke with her.

While a young woman, she was a popular dance partner at country dances. People said that she and her cousin Jimmy Terry "sure could cut a rug."

In their later years, Dicy and her husband spent many hours fishing and camping together. Their favorite place was on the shore of Vaughn Lake.

Dicy is survived by her daughters, Maryann Lane Bugay, of Craig, Eva Franke Hinkle, of Hayden, and Helen "Jo" Franke Godeski, of Rifle; a brother, Kelly Brock, of Camas, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neil; infant son Robert Dale Lane; sisters, Verda McPhereson and Helen Weinger, and a brother, Robert Smith

Services were Feb. 9, 2006, at Hayden Cemetery with Janet Babish officiating. The musical selection was "Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Roger Martin, Ronald Bugay, Danny Godeski, Eldon Hinkle, Fred Cattoor and Jesse Diderrich.
