Police arrested a Craig man Monday after receiving a report he choked a woman Monday night at his home in Craig.
Robert Emmett Lynch Jr., 58, of Craig, was arrested late Monday night at his apartment in the 600 block of Wickes Avenue.
Police received a report from a woman who said Lynch had attacked her after inviting her to his home, Craig police spokesman Lt. John Forgay said.
The woman told police Lynch choked her, made sexual contact with her and wouldn't let her leave the apartment, Forgay said.
Forgay said the woman told police she feared for her life.
Lynch is charged with criminal attempt to commit second-degree murder, unlawful sexual contact, third-degree assault and false imprisonment.
Court files in the case are sealed because it is a sexual assault case.
The woman was eventually allowed to leave the apartment, Forgay said.
Police think the woman and Lynch were friends, Forgay said.
Lynch is deaf, and the woman had gone to his home to spend time with him before, Forgay said.
Lynch is being held in the Moffat County Jail. Bail is set at $10,000.
He is set to go before Moffat County Judge Mary Lynne James for an advisement hearing Tuesday.
Lynch is the third Craig man since November charged with attempted murder.
On Nov. 15, police arrested William Daniel Kilpatrick, 24, of Craig, after they say he choked his girlfriend and threatened her with a knife during a dispute at the couple's home on Ranney Street.
Kilpatrick remains in Moffat County Jail on $1 million bail.
Kevin Christopher, 21, was arrested Jan. 24 at an apartment on Sixth Street after police received a report that a man had choked a woman to unconsciousness.
Christopher faces charges of reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, menacing and criminal attempt to commit second-degree murder. All of Christopher's charges have a domestic violence charge attached.
Christopher is in Moffat County Jail. Bail is set at $100,000 bond.
