Girls move on to title game against Bishop

Bulldogs now 3-0 in tournament

The Moffat County Girls basketball team heads to the championship game of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chandler, Ariz., today at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs handed Westview High School (Avondale, Ariz.) a 68-44 loss in semi-final play Wednesday afternoon and will now face Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, Calif.) for the trophy in the Orange Division.

Both Bishop and Moffat County are a perfect 3-0 in the tournament.

Bulldog coach Craig Mortensen said the team had a chance to watch Bishop Montgomery in action prior to their game.

"They played good," Mor-

tensen said. "They had good control."

Mortensen said that the Bulldogs should have a good game on their hands tomorrow.

One change for Moffat County will be the level of competition. Thus far, Mortensen said the teams that they have faced have not been quite as good as he expected.

"The three teams we have played so far have not been the level of competition we hoped for," Mortensen said. "They pressed and were up-tempo, but we've had control of all the games."

Mortensen said that they have forced a slower tempo on the teams, and have minimized turnovers and steals to secure their victories.

"We've been able to handle the pressure and our defense has really set the tone for us," Mortensen said.

Against Westview, Mortensen said that the Bulldogs jumped out to a large first quarter lead and continued to maintain it throughout the game.

"All the girls have stepped up and played good," Mortensen said.
