Commission seeks to fill positions

The Moffat County Board of Com--missioners has received several inquiries from county residents interested in filling open positions on six county boards, administrative assistant Erin Miller said.

"We've gotten at least a couple of residents per board," Miller said Tuesday morning.

The county commission is seeking to fill 16 open positions spread across six boards -- the Museum of Northwest Colorado Advisory Board, the Moffat County Library Board, Maybell Community Center Board, 14th Judicial Community Corrections Board, airport advisory board and housing authority board.

Miller said the terms of several board members who currently fill the positions are expiring and some have applied for re-appointment. She said that the commission would recruit applicants if there are not enough prospective board members.

"If we don't have enough responses, we kind of go out and talk to people," Miller said.

On Jan. 9, Moffat County Commissioner-elect Tom Mathers will be sworn into office. That same day, the commission will review the board applications.

Appointments could be made either that day or the following week, Miller said.

Four positions are open on the museum advisory board, three for the housing authority board, two each for the community center board, community corrections board and airport advisory board.

There are also three positions available on the library board -- one each for residents of the county, city and Maybell.
