Henry joins Daily Press newsroom
John Henry recently joined the Craig Daily Press newsroom as a photographer and features writer.
Henry, who began work on July 29, moved to Craig from Illinois last month.
"We are thrilled to have John in our newsroom," Editor Michelle Perry said. "His enthusiasm and photographic skill will definitely be an asset to the Daily Press and to the community."
Henry was raised in southern Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., in December 2005 with a bachelor's degree in photojournalism.
Henry spent the fall 2003 semester studying in Seville, Spain, and is conversational in Spanish.
He recently completed spring and summer photographer internships at the Peoria Journal Star in Peoria, Ill.
He has also worked at the Carterville (Ill.) Courier and Daily Egyptian on the university's campus.
Henry has won several awards from the Illinois Press Photographer's Association and National Press Photographer's Association for his work.
At the Daily Press, Henry will be responsible for much of the photography for the daily newspaper and special projects. He will also cover features stories for the Daily Press.
"I am excited to be in Craig and to get to tell the stories of the people of Moffat County," Henry said. "I love community journalism and look forward to covering many issues and events in this area."
Henry said he is also excited to explore the recreational opportunities available in Northwest Colorado.
Perry said she is already pleased with the work Henry is doing, and looks forward to the future stories and photographs Henry will bring to the Daily Press.
"We welcome Henry to the Daily Press and to Moffat County," she said. "He is a wonderful addition to our staff."
Henry may be reached at 824-7031, ext. 209, or jhenry@craigdailypress.com.
