Anna Eileen Critchlow Corriveau

August 4, 2006

Anna Eileen Critchlow Corriveau, loving wife, mother of three and proud owner of Ladyfingers Bakery, passed away July 19, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco, after a long and heroic struggle with a rare illness.

She began life on April 21, 1946, in Phoenix. She and her family traveled throughout the United States with several other families, as members of the National Geodetic Survey. They settled in Pacifica, Calif., in the late 1950s.

After high school graduation, Anna attended San Francisco State University and received a bachelor of arts degree and special education teacher credential. Shortly thereafter, she married Clarence Edward Corriveau, and then began teaching in Alameda, Calif. After the birth of her second child, she began a new career as a professional baker.

She was the owner of the renowned Ladyfingers Bakery in Oakland, Calif. She remained a profound influence on this business, its patrons and its employees until her death.

She was a devoted wife, mother and loving friend. She radiated love and humility, and displayed her great talents for understanding, bakery crafts, and true understanding of the purity of life and love. Her family extended to all those she knew, and she became the "mother" to countless children and adults. She also was a loving patroness to the clergy of St. Theresa's Church in Oakland, providing frequent desserts on Saturday evenings.

She was a very talented and creative angel in life, but she took the most pride in her family. Her goal in life from childhood was to have children and be a teacher. She achieved these goals beyond all human expectations, and the memory of her achievements will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Corriveau; children, Joseph, Jacques and Jonathan; parents, Allan and Lauretta Critchlow; brothers, Thomas and Leo Critchlow; sisters, Bernadette Cardoza and Marjorie Dolezal; sisters-in-law, Jan (Jake) Jacobs and Joan Webster; and brothers-in-law, Jeff (Clarise) Corriveau and Joe (Rhonda) Corriveau.

A memorial Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Oakland, Calif.
