Craig Christian women’s conference goes regional
More than 200 women of all ages are expected to gather in Craig for the three-day Northwest Colorado Christian Women's Conference the weekend of Aug. 25.
Kelley Sexton, the chairwoman for the event, said women from across Colorado, as well as from Arizona, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming, will attend this conference.
In the past, the conference has been a Craig event, Sexton said.
"This year, the conference has grown into a regional event," she said. "It's very cool."
Sexton said making the conference just for Craig had become passe.
"It was kind of been there, done that," she said. "We asked ourselves what can we do for Christian women that would help promote Christianity in this part of the country."
Sexton said she was aware of bigger women's conferences in places such as Denver and Colorado Springs but that she wanted to organize one in "our neck of the woods."
The conference will be Aug. 26 and 27 at the Apostolic Church, 3107 W. First St.
"It is for Christian women," Sexton said. "But it is geared towards non-believers, as well."
Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Aug. 26. The cost for the conference is $60.

The highlight of this year's conference will be a concert Aug. 25. Sexton said the main attraction will be Robin Mark, a singer coming from Belfast, Ireland.
"This is his first American tour, and Craig will be his only Colorado appearance," Sexton said. "He's not going to the Pepsi Center, he's not going to the Front Range. He's coming to Craig."
She added that this concert isn't just for Christians.
"It's for anybody who enjoys Celtic music," Sexton said. "(Mark) has one of the most fantastic voices of any male artist.
This is an opportunity that's probably going to be once in a lifetime for Craig."
Mark will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane. Tickets are on sale for $17 at www.robinmarkcraig06.com.
Tickets also will be available the night of the concert for $20, but Sexton said she is sure the event will sell out, "so buy tickets ahead of time."
