- Amber Luker: Thanks for supporting cheerleading trip
- August 1, 2006
- I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who made my trip to Australia and Hawaii a reality. Without the help of several individuals and organizations, I would not have had this opportunity. I went to Australia as part of a statewide cheerleading team. I got to see the sights and animals in Australia that were wonderful and interesting. I was able to feed the kangaroos and get my picture taken with a koala bear.

- August 1, 2006
- I’m surprised and a little annoyed to see Joshua Roberts’ reference to two Anglos at the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, headlined as “dos gringos” (in Tuesday’s Daily Press). My latest Webster’s defines gringos or gringa as hostile and contemptuous terms, much the same as it does the word greaser just five pages away. Neither of these terms have any significance at all in Spain, where “La maladicion de Hemingway” article is set, so they seem particularly inappropriate for this article.
