Amy W. Jerrell was born May 31, 1913, in Union, Ind., to Elijah Wilson and Maude (Beard) Jerrell. At a young age, her family moved to the town of Raos in southern Colorado. She was raised there and in Minturn, Eagle and Carbondale, where she graduated from high school in 1930 or 1931.After high school, Amy attended Colorado Teachers College in Greeley for one year.

Amy married Marshall Stanley Pings on December 12, l932, in Carbondale. They made their home there for many years and then lived in Snowmass and Glenwood Springs. Amy moved to The Haven Assisted Living Center in Hayden in 1999 and lived there until moving to Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Craig one year ago.

Amy was a homemaker all of her married life and was member of the Order of Eastern Star in Carbondale and the PEO Chapter in Aspen. She enjoyed reading.

Amy died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Sandrock Ridge.

She is survived by her sons, Donald (Marlynn) Pings of Craig, and William E. Pings; grandson, Keith (EIizabeth) Pings of Cincinnati, Ohio; great-grandchildren William, Joseph and Donald Pings, Shannon (Wade) Wright and Madison Aaberg; great great-grandchildren, Caelin, Isaac and Nikolais Wright; brother, James (Estell) Jerrell of Fairfield, Calif.; and grandson-in-law, Butch Aaberg of Craig.

Her parents; sisters Marjorie and Helen; brother, Hubert; and granddaughter, Kathy Aaberg, preceded her in death.

At Amy's request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Grant Mortuary.
