Moffat County offers a full range of medical services to its residents.

Craig has a variety of family-care physicians, dentists, chiropractors and physical therapists and other health care professionals.

"It's amazing to me the number of services we have available to this small community," said Suzanne Carson, chief nursing officer at The Memorial Hospital in Craig.

With 21 doctors on staff and 17 associate staff members, the hospital offers a comprehensive set of medical services including cardiac care and gastrointestinal testing.

"We have all the state-of-the-art equipment to do a full evaluation of someone's intestinal system," Carson said.

The hospital has emergency room services, as well as ambulance services that cover a large geographical area.

The Memorial Hospital's nurses and physicians care for pregnant and postpartum women and newborns.

Craig's 25-bed hospital has imaging technology including a CT scanner, or 3D imaging machine, and MRI technology.

"For a small town we've been very lucky to be so fortunate to have all this tech available to us," Carson said.

For specialists not in Craig, the hospital brings in doctors from Denver and Grand Junction to meet the community's needs. Plus, the hospital has strong relationships with larger hospitals in nearby towns, and can transport patients to other facilities as needed.

Other health services in Craig include several massage therapists and herbalists.

Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehab is a skilled nursing facility for senior citizens, and the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association provides assisted-living services on a sliding fee scale.

Mental health services also are available in Craig, as are physical rehabilitation centers.

There are many dentists in town, including one at Northwest Colorado Dental Care, a clinic dedicated to serving the uninsured and indigent patients in a five-county area.

Craig also offers hearing aid services and a urology clinic.
