Colleen Joan Kowach
Colleen Joan Kowach died Sept. 6, 2005, in Silver Lake, Kan. She was 64.
Colleen Joan Hayes was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Hayden, to Bill and Lily Hayes.
Kowach attended school in Hayden, graduated from Hayden High School, and then met and married Jim Frank Kowach. They had three children, Mardele Darlene Kowach, Jimmy Lee (Lora) Kowach, and Rodney Kim (Karen) Kowach. She had four grandchildren, Brianne (Caleb) Smith, Ben Kowach, Sam Kowach, and Mariah Kowach, and three great-grandchildren, Victoria Smith, Cassandra Smith, and Alaina Smith. She worked as a retail clerk most of her life.
Kowach is survived by her sons Jimmy Lee (Lora) Kowach, Rodney (Karen) Kowach; brothers Bill (Bessie) Hayes, Mickey (Wilma) Hayes, Jay (Dotty) Hayes, Larry (Marilyn) Hayes, Denny (Gretchen) Hayes, and John (Judy) Hayes; sister, Kathaleen Carter; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Kowach was preceded in death by Bill and Lily Hayes, brothers Howard and Calvin, sister, Margarite, and daughter, Mardele Kowach.
Services were Sept. 10, 2005, at Hayden Congregational Church with Janet Babish officiating.
The organist was Avis Funk, and the soloist was Gretchen Hayes.
Selections were "Danny Boy," and "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling."
The congregational hymn was "What A Friend We Have In Jesus"
Pallbearers were Shawn Hayes, Doyle Hayes, Clay Hayes, Kelly Hayes, JD Hayes, Don Hayes, and Bill Hayes, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hayes, Mickey Hayes, Jay Hayes, Larry Hayes, Denny Hayes, John Hayes, and "All Colleen's Family and Many Friends."
Interment was at Hayden Cemetery.
