Moffat County Commissioners

Decisions:

Commissioners unanimously approved a water rights application for the Road and Bridge Department on Fortification Creek. The water will be used for magnesium chloride projects on County Road 18.

Unanimously approved a bid from Maxwell asphalt for a project at the Moffat County airport.

Unanimously approved a letter of support for the Steamboat Springs Chamber of Commerce for a marketing campaign for fall flights into Yampa valley Regional Airport.

Voted unanimously to table discussion about selling the courthouse annex.

Unanimously approved the Horizons mill levy referendum. The commissioners did not endorse the referendum, but approved its language.

Unanimously approved a statement in support of the 5.5 percent question, which asks voters to let the county keep tax revenues that would otherwise be refunded under a law from 1913.

Unanimously approved an amendment to a grant request for The Memorial Hospital. The grant asks the state for $456,000 for MRI equipment. The original grant asked for $375,000.

Voted 2-1 to pay $1,500 to sponsor the Northwest Colorado Regional Leadership conference. Commissioner Darryl Steele cast the lone dissenting vote.

Tabled an agreement between Parks and Recreation and the U.S. Forest Service for cost sharing of some facilities because the information in the agreement was not correct.

Unanimously approved the 2005 cafeteria plan and plan services agreement.

Unanimously approved a contract with Motorola for the Vermillion communication tower site.

Unanimously approved a grant request to DOLA for a communication tower near Baker's Peak.

Unanimously approved personnel requisitions for Road and Bridge and Social Services.

Named Rita Osborn the Moffat County Cares volunteer of the month.

The Memorial Hospital

Board of Trustees of The Memorial Hospital met on Wednesday for their regular board meeting. Board members unanimously:

approved an audit report.

approved a medical air system upgrade for $6,413 and an inspection service and repair of the hospital's anti-fire and smoke system for $9,740.

approved budget parameters for 2006. The parameters are based on estimates for the number of patients seen by the hospital. Patient admissions have increased by 50 compared to last year.

  • approved a request from Diversified Services Consulting for $10,000 to continue with creating a sketch plan of the new hospital. Funds will be drawn from the hospital's building fund, which has topped $2 million.

Craig Rural Fire Protection District

Board members of the Craig Rural Fire Protection District meet next for their regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the station on 419 Yampa Ave. A special budget meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.
