The Memorial Hospital board of trustees at its regular meeting Wednesday night approved the 2006 budget and holiday bonuses for employees.
Hospital officials declined to divulge the amount of the bonuses.
Roger White, the hospital's chief financial officer, said the amount was always confidential and was similar to bonuses given employees last year.
Bonuses are paid based on the number of hours an employee works, White said, not on employees' pay rates.
Earlier this month, the hospital laid off 10 employees to cut costs. The hospital is trying to raise funds to build a $19-million facility on the west side of Craig.
The six-member board unanimously approved the bonuses, as well as the hospital's 2006 budget.
The board budgeted $16.4 million for operating expenses in 2006. It expects revenues to be about $17.2 million, according to a budget summary.
The budget includes a 3 percent rate increase and a 3 percent pay increase for employees.
The board also budgeted $475,451 for capital expenditures in 2006. Included in the capital expenditures are $150,000 for MRI equipment, $55,000 for elevators and $30,000 for CT scan equipment.
Also at Wednesday's meeting, the board approved a motion to spend $434,000 on new equipment for sending medical photos to other hospitals.
The technology will allow the hospital to send X-rays to other hospitals when a radiologist isn't on duty, interim hospital administrator Susan McGough said.
The digital images also will save the hospital about $30,000 a year in film costs, officials said.
The board also agreed to pay $85,000 in service agreements for the new equipment, an expense that concerned some board members.
"I'm personally not in favor of service agreements," Trustee Ron Danner said.
But after discussing the agreements, Danner voted for the new equipment, and the expenditure passed unanimously.
About half of the costs of the new equipment will be paid for with an energy impact grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. The department gives grants to local communities affected by energy development.
The board entered an executive session Wednesday night to discuss personnel matters. The session was closed to the public.
