Serendipity shop to close today

A downtown coffee shop will shut down its business at 5 p.m. today, the manager said Tuesday. But how long the shop will stay closed is unclear.

Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave., is in the process of being sold. Because of the sale, the business will close Wednesday, manager Jason Bugay said.

"I'm pretty sad about it," Bugay said.

The shop, which serves sandwiches, pastries and espresso drinks, has been open for more than four years.

Bugay is working with a local Realtor to find another property in town to open a new coffee shop, he said.

J'Lea Driver, who founded Serendipity, said she has a buyer who wants to keep the business running.

Driver hopes to close on the sale of the business and its building by Jan. 13, she said.

But she didn't know how long Serendipity would remain closed.

Craig museum gets another record gift

The Museum of Northwest Colorado received another $10,000 gift from a pipeline company recently.

Wyoming Interstate Co. gave the museum $10,000 to curate artifacts found during construction of the company's pipeline through Moffat County.

Entrega Gas Pipeline gave the museum $10,000 in July for the same reason.

The gifts are the largest the museum has ever received, said Dan Davidson, director.
