Local TV news gone for now

Craig's local television station, K27, is still on the air, but it isn't broadcasting local news.

Although there is no local news now, that doesn't mean there won't be in the future, said Mary Engler, who owns the station with her husband, Bill.

She declined to elaborate. Her husband did not return phone calls.

The Englers launched K27 in 1986 and bought it back from Jerry Thompson earlier this month.

Local news did not air for two days shortly after the Englers took the station over in early November because of a dispute between Engler and the station's staff.

A few days later, in a written statement, Engler said local news was back on the air. Not long after, local news was again off the air.

K27, which is the only station broadcasting on air by antenna, will continue broadcasting on the America 1 network.
