Event aims to snuff out smoking
The 28th annual Great American Smoke Out begins Thursday, and some middle school students plan to help Craig smokers give up the habit.
The event is aimed at encouraging smokers to quit for a day with the hope they can quit for good.
For the fourth consecutive year, local middle school students will make "Quit Kits" and distribute them throughout the county.
The kits include stress relievers, information about quitting smoking and smokeless tobacco use and information about how to contact the Colorado Quitline, (1-800-639-7848.)
Quitline and QuitNet are free programs designed to help people quit smoking.
Quit Kits will be available at City Market, Kmart, Safeway, the Visiting Nurse Association, Maybell Store and Dinosaur Town hall.
