Motorcycle enthusiast lives to ride

May 11, 2005

Trevor Simones is proud his motorcycle. Riding and owning a bike, is kind of in his blood. He comes from a line of what he calls "motorcycle nuts."

"It's a family thing -- my dad, my uncle and most the family has one," Simones said.

Riding is how his family spends time together. They travel the area on short day trips.

Simones usually gets his bike out of the garage as early as the last week of March, though it's usually late April or early May before it's warm enough to ride.

"I got it out about a month ago, and it's been a little too wet and cold the last week," he said.

Simones said he always is looking for new gadgets for his bike and spends a lot of his free time reading the most current motorcycle magazines. He appreciates the gas mileage he gets.

"I get right at 42 miles to the gallon, so I can afford to travel around some," he said.

He said he does spend a lot of time polishing his bike.

"They look best when they shine," he said.

Simones and his family are planning to attend a rally in Cripple Creek in June and hope to attend the Sturgis, S.D., rally in the fall.

"Sturgis is the second largest motorcycle rally -- it would be really cool if things work out for us to go," he said.
