June deadline for hay directory
The Colorado Department of Agriculture is accepting listings for the 2005 Colorado Hay Directory. This popular publication helps market Colorado hay to buyers in the state and across the country.
"Hay continues to be Colorado's leading crop in terms of value of production," said Wendy White, marketing specialist for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. "This directory is the primary method of marketing hay for many producers."
The listing fee is $20 per submission, and the deadline is June 17. Forms are available at Colorado State University Cooperative Extension offices or by contacting the Colorado Department of Agriculture. This free directory is offered in print and also will be available at www.coloradoagriculture.com in August. As an additional benefit to listees, information also will be included in the Beef Business Directory, published by the AgJournal.
Since the Colorado Hay Directory first was published in 1987, it continues to be an important marketing tool for Colorado hay producers. Listings describe the variety and amount of hay available, bale type, whether the hay is certified weed-free and whether a laboratory analysis is available. Listings are grouped by region of the state.

Park and Recreation offering swim lessons
The Craig Park and Recreation Department is offering swimming lesson beginning June 20 for children ages 3 to 17. Classes are Monday through Thursday and last for two weeks. The fee is $25. For more information, call 826-2029.
19th annual Maybell bike ride is May 19
The 19th annual "Where the Hell is Maybell" bike ride departs at 7 a.m. from Northwest Storage, 4295 U.S. Highway 40, or at 7:30 a.m. from Western Knolls subdivision May 19. The race is free. There will be a breakfast served in Maybell for riders, with a cost of $5 per person. Call 826-2029.
