Letter writer thanks community

On behalf of the Moffat County Early Childhood Coalition, I would like to thank the people and organizations who contributed to a successful Car Seat Safety Campaign.

During the Celebrate Children Festival, we were able to help keep our children safe in vehicles through educational materials from the U.S. Department of Transportation, checking of recall lists for car seats, and diligent inspection and installation of seats by Officer Brian Gonzalez of the Craig Police Department.

Brian was instrumental in the organization and implementation of this campaign and we can't thank him enough.

In addition, we were able to provide brand new car seats for families in need thanks to donations from the following:

The United Way, Kiwanis Club of Craig, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Rehabilitation Services of Craig, Victory Vision, Carelli's Restaurant, Kelly & Sarah Hepworth, Pres and Patricia Askew, American Legion, Pete Pleasant, MountainWest Insurance, Moffat Insurance, Trapper Mine, Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehab, Vermillion Ranch, E.J. Bunk Insurance , Marv Draper Insurance, Jean and Larry Talkington, Northwest Colorado VNA, American Northwest Realty, Yampa Valley Electric, EyeCare Specialties, Northwest Colorado Financial Group, Western United Realty, Roger and Sheryl Spears, Sharyl Ritschel, H&R Block, and St. Mark's Preschool.

Recipients of those car seats I'm sure feel, as I do, lucky to live in a community that opens its hearts (as well as wallets) to contribute to the safety of its children.

Thanks, too, to Mike Fuller and KRAI for helping us advertise the event. Overall, it was a real "feel good" day for those of us who directly participated; I hope this feeling now extends to those of you who donated -- you deserve it.

With the funds raised, and hopes of future grant money for this project, we will continue our goal to make sure that no child in Moffat County is unsafe in their vehicle.

In appreciation,

Val Pleasant,

Childhood Coalition
