Craig Special Olympics athletes and coaches are having their second annual walking bake sale. Athletes and coaches will be soliciting orders across town on Monday and deliver Thursday, and Friday afternoons.

They also will sell bake sale items at the entrance of City Market at 2 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. March 19. Call Bonnie Dalton at 824-0222.

Bulldog Youth Baseball

Registration for Bulldog Youth Baseball is now open. Registration forms can be picked up at the Boys & Girls Club, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40, or Craig Physical Therapy, 533 Yampa Ave. This program provides summer baseball for youths ages 8 to 18. The deadline is April 8. Call Scott Parker at 824-7036, ext. 1215.

Independent Life Center seeks board member

Rally today to support Utah Co-op miners

A rally in support of the Co-op miners from Price, Utah is today at the United Mine Workers Union Hall, 525 East 100 S. in Price.

The miners have enjoyed the support of fellow coal miners from Northwest Colorado. The Co-op miners have fought to ratify their vote to get union representation.

Today's event includes a Mexican meal, speakers and a fund-raising raffle. For more information about the Craig group that will travel to the rally, call Isidro Quezada at 824-8384.

Craig Elks sponsors Crazy Bowl for youths

The Craig Elks are sponsoring Crazy Bowl for youths ages 14 to 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Craig Lanes. There will be door prizes. The bowling and shoe rentals are paid for by the Elks. Call Robin at 824-0323.

Lettuce Feed You Luncheon set for April 1

The 20th annual Lettuce Feed You Luncheon is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 at the Elks Hall on Victory Way and sponsored by the Yampa Valley Ladies Golf Association. Tickets are $7 and may be purchased from any member or at American Northwest Realty.

MCHS driver education class begins March 22

There will be a driver education class offered at Moffat County High School starting March 22. The students must be 15 years old by June 1. The class starts is 6 p.m. and will meet in room 310. Call the high school at 824-7036 to sign up for the class or show up at the first class to register.

Tryouts for Cutthroats begin week of March 21

Baseball tryouts for the Colorado Cutthroats traveling youth baseball team begins the week of March 21. Craig and Hayden boys ages 11 and younger as of Aug. 1, 2005, are eligible. This is a traveling team. Call Mark at 824-2522 or Tim at 276-3443 for details.

Boys & Girls Club open during spring break

The Boys & Girls Club will be open during spring break from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. No transportation will be provided. Snacks will be served, but children should bring a sack lunch if they plan to can attend for free and nonmembers pay $10 a day.

RAD gets $10,000

Daniels Fund grant

The RAD After-School program received a $10,000 Daniels Fund grant for after-school programs. The Recreatational After-School Doorway is a safe place where area youths in grades fifth through eighth can go after school to participate in activities that help develop the assets needed to become responsible members of the commumty. The program also offers students an opportunity to develop and explore new friendships, life skills and their hidden talents.

The Daniels Fund was establisbed in 1997 by Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need.

Apply now for Grassland Reserve Program

The deadline to apply for the Natural Resources Conservation Service's FY 2005 Grassland Reserve Program is March 25. The Grassland Reserve Program is a voluntary program that helps landowners restore and protect grasslands and rangeland while maintaining the areas as grazing lands.

There are several enrollment options, including permanent and 30-year easements and long-term rental agreements.

Landowners interested in participating in the GRP should contact the local NRCS office at the USDA offices, 356 Ranney St., or call 824 3476.
