Peroulis Brothers Trucking was one of two local suppliers recognized by Monsanto Corp. for outstanding service.
Jim Smith, production manager for Monsanto, said the company has more than 25,000 suppliers nationwide and recognizes the top 12 each year who demonstrate exceptional service. "Receiving this award is a big deal with Monsanto, but to even be nominated the first year of doing business with us is a phenomenal accomplishment," said Jim Smith, production manager for Monsanto.
Peroulis Brothers hauls between 600 and 650 tons of coal from Twentymile Coal to Rock Springs, Wyo. daily.
Smith said Twentymile Coal also was recognized. He said the teamwork displayed by the two companies was impressive to Monsanto.
"The two companies function as though they were joined at the hip," Smith said. "And that works well for Monsanto.
The coal hauled to Rock Springs is made into coke and used in the production of Roundup, a weed killer.
