- The Colorado Northwestern Community College Foundation will host the annual scholarship fund-raising dinner dance at 6 p.m. April 2 in the Weiss Conference Center in Rangely. Attendees will be served shrimp cocktail followed by a prime rib dinner and live entertainment by Grand Junction barbershop quartet Close Harmony. CNCC student and Craig resident Jorie Hollenbeck will be the featured entertainer.

- To the editor, I have family and friends in Craig, so I like to keep up on the local happenings. A few weeks ago there was an article in your paper about a teacher (Mr. Conrad) who wanted extra time off work to take his program to other schools. The School Board refused his request on grounds that other teachers also may want to take extra time off for other things. In that letter, he is quoted as saying that other teachers wanting time off should not be a problem because they cannot afford to lose $275 per day for each day missed. Am I to take it that the teachers in your area are making $275 per day?

The baby weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 18.75 inches long. Grandparents are Juanita Edwards of Somerset, and Larry Kendall of Paonia. The baby was welcomed home by his siblings, Ian Sheets and Tearna North.
