Annette Gianinetti knows what she wants to tackle first as the new executive director of the Craig Chamber of Commerce.
The Craig native said helping local businesses find affordable health care is at the top of her list.
"For this position, I have to have my own insurance, and it's not the only one like that in the county," Gianinetti said.
Gianinetti will take over on July 1.
The Chamber of Commerce board of directors selected Gianinetti from a pool of 12 applicants.
"We had some superb candidates," board of directors President Christina Currie said. "Annette had tough competition, but in the end, her drive and personality caught the board's attention."
Currie said the Chamber is always looking for new members, but right now its focus is on current members.
"The board wants to make sure we're serving our members to the best of our ability," Currie said.
Gianinetti's personality makes her the perfect person to do that, Currie said.
Gianinetti has spent the past 20 years working in law enforcement as a communications officer and administrative assistant. She has been at the Moffat County Sheriff's Office for the past nine years.
"I love Craig so this will be perfect for me," Gianinetti said. "I think it's going to be a wonderful experience."
Gianinetti takes over for Cathy Vanatta, who resigned last month after six years as Chamber director.
At the same time Vanatta resigned, membership director Patti Mosbey also left the Chamber.
Currie said the board is re-evaluating the membership director position and likely will have Gianinetti handle many of the duties Mosbey did.
Currie said Gianinetti's enthusiasm and people skills make her the perfect person to work with members.
Gianinetti is looking forward to the challenge of her new position, but leaving the sheriff's office after nine years will be tough.
"It's going to be very bittersweet," she said.
