It takes people awhile to look past Cayla Maneotis' 6-foot-5 frame, but when they do, they find a soft-spoken, eager-to-please teen who enjoys her life.
Maneotis is probably best known for her intimidating presence on the basketball court. Off the court, she mostly enjoys hanging out with her friends and traveling -- something she gets to do often because she has family members scattered throughout the West. She often goes to Grand Junction or Denver to visit, but she prefers her annual Christmas trip to California.
"It's so pretty and by the ocean," she said. "It's way different than Colorado."
The Moffat County High School junior likes being in Craig because her friends are here but contends "there's nothing to do in Craig."
She can be found at her house or at a friend's watching TV when she's not taking money at the City Pool.
This is Man--eotis' second year working at the pool. She mans the front desk -- mostly because she doesn't think she could handle the amount of time lifeguards have to spend in the sun.
"I really like it here," she said. "It's fun, and I enjoy it."
She also likes school because she gets to hang out with her friends and learn new things.
After she graduates, Maneotis hopes to have a career as a physical or a massage therapist.
