Brad Grinstead's walk-off, two-RBI double was one of the least celebrated walk-off hits one will ever see.
Grinstead's hit in the bottom of the fifth put the Craig American Legion baseball team up 10-0 against Steamboat Springs to call in the 10-run rule.
"The guys still wanted to hit," Craig coach Bob Satterwhite said. "They were more disappointed about that than happy to win."
Grinstead went 3-for-3, and Bryan Wojtkiewicz had five RBIs in Craig's second win in a week against Steamboat.
Wojtkiewicz proved he can do more than pitch with an RBI triple and a grand-slam home run.
Wojtkiewicz made the prep writers at the Denver Post look good Tuesday night. The Post named him to their honorable mention All-State team as a utility player. The Rocky Mountain News named him to its honorable mention team as a pitcher.
Satterwhite said both are deserved.
"Woj is becoming a senior leader," Satterwhite said. "He is doing everything, including swinging the bat, for us right now."
Josh Satterwhite pitched five scoreless innings to improve his record to 2-0 against Steamboat. He collected six strikeouts, gave up three hits, and didn't allow a Steamboat runner past second base.
"I have to give credit to their pitcher because he threw strikes and he mixed it up on us," Steamboat coach Dave Roy said. "We didn't hit the ball well at all tonight or get any key hits."
Steamboat's starting pitcher, Alex Wood, collected seven strikeouts in four innings, but two mistakes to Wojtkiewicz cost him.
"(Wood) did a nice job," Roy said. "He just made a couple of mistakes."
The Bulldogs scored six runs off of Wood and collected four against Zach Savage, who came on in the fifth. Reid Hanneman added a home run for the Bulldogs against Savage.
The only negative that coach Satterwhite could draw from Craig's win was the production of the team's three, four and five hitters. Bryan Richards, Billy Ivy and Josh Satterwhite collected four of the team's seven strikeouts.
"Our one and two hitters (Grinstead and Wojtkiewicz) did almost all of the damage tonight," coach Satterwhite said. "Those other guys will get it going soon."
