The Boys & Girls Club of Craig will host a "Meet and Greet" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for families to get to know the summer staff and get reacquainted with the year-round staff.
Members ages 6 to 8 and their families are encouraged to attend from 9 a.m. to noon for ice cream, fun and games, and the opportunity to explore offered summer programs.
Members ages 9 to 18 and their families are encouraged to participate in the activities from 1 to 4 p.m.
Fire protection district taking applications
Craig Rural Fire Protection District is accepting applications for probationary firefighters. Successful applicants must be 18 or older, pass a medical physical, psychological evaluation, department physical agility test, drug screen, criminal background check, possess a valid Colorado driver's license and have a good driving record.
Successful applicants will be required to become state certified Firefighter I and pass all other required fire department training within the first year. All needed training will be provided through Craig Fire/Rescue.
Positions are volunteer/paid-on-call with vested retirement after 10 years of service.
Applications are available at the Craig Fire Station, 419 Yampa Ave. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Completed applications must be returned to the fire station no later than 3 p.m. Sept. 1. Call the fire station with questions at 824-5914.
Author Littell to speak June 22 at fairgrounds
Bob Littell, author of "The Heart and Art of Net Weaving" will speak at noon June 22 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds. The presentation, sponsored by the Craig Chamber of Commerce, costs $10 and includes a brown bag lunch. All proceeds from books will go the Boys & Girls Club of Craig. People need to buy tickets in advance by calling the Chamber at 824-5689.
Head Start accepting applications for fall
The Craig He=ad Start pre-school is currently accepting applications for the 2005-06 program year.
Qualifying children must turn 3 or 4 on or before Aug. 31.

Class offers operation room training
Colorado Northwestern Com---munity College is offering an intensive perioperative nursing class starting today. The intensive 90-hour class is a joint effort with The Memorial Hospital.
The class is open to registered nurses or those who are set to earn their registered nursing licenses.
Two slots remain.
The first time opportunity for students to get training in operating rooms will be taught by former Craig resident and Moffat County High School graduate, Julie Mower. Mower is on the faculty at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
